Symbiosis Entrance Test or SET is a common entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses offered at institutes of Symbiosis International University, Pune. Exam Pattern

SET-General 2019 will be conducted the afternoon session for 2.5 hours in online mode. The question paper will consist of 150 MCQs carrying one mark each, in which the candidate has to select one appropriate answer from four options given. There will be no negative marking.

The candidates must note that they cannot carry calculator or electronic gadget to the exam centre. Since SET is an online entrance exam, the candidates will have to key-in or select the right answer on the computer screen. Thus, it is important for them to practice at home and familiarise themselves with online examination mode.

The question paper was divided into four sections:

The aspirant must have cleared class 12th or equivalent examinations in relevant stream from a recognized board or university with minimum 50% marks ( 45% for SC/ST category students).

Candidates in class 12 or awaiting their 10+2 result are also eligible to apply but they will have to submit passing certificate by September 2018.

A candidate who has completed XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any Foreign Board must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The following are the reservation rules that shall be followed while admitting Indian students:

  • Scheduled Caste: 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%
  • Differently abled students: 3%
  • Armed Forces Dependants (Wards of Serving/Retired): 5%
  • Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats over and above the sanctioned intake.


Candidate applying for the above mentioned categories will be required to submit the supporting documents at the time of PI-WAT/ST-PI.

Candidates applying for Defence Quota other than above maintioned three institutes (SLS-Pune, SICSR and SCMS-Pune) will be considered as candidates in OPEN Category.

How to Register

Register online on the website (from January 29, 2018 to April 14, 2018)
Note: Any Changes in the online application form (except test city preferences and admission category) will be entertained only up to the closing date of Registration i.e. April 14, 2018. No changes shall be permitted after closing date under any circumstances. No change of test city requests will be entertained once candidates have completed their Online SET 2018 registration.

Upload your latest scanned colour passport size photo at the time of Online Registration. (Your photograph should not be more than 3 months old).

Ensure that the information you have filled is accurate.
The SET-General, which is the entrance test for Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication [SCMC], is held in the afternoon session, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.


It is also mandatory to complete the payment process of desired institute for desired programme(s) before the closing date of payment of the respective programme. Payment towards the programme(s) also needs to be done through the website only (

For disputes between the candidate and the Symbiosis Test Secretariat, the candidate should first send an Email to with details about his/her grievance. If the candidate is not satisfied with the decision of the Registrar, he/she can appeal to the Ombudsman of the University. SET-General 2018 Score will be valid only for admission to select programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for the academic year of 2018-19. Admission to the select programmes at SIU are strictly based on merit, assessment of individual performance in the respective Entrance Test for Undergraduate Studies and other processes prescribed by the University. (Note: - SET-General Result will be declared on May 14, 2018 on and will be available up to June 15, 2018).

  • Symbiosis SET 2019 Application Fee is INR 1750 (one program).
  • The fee amount is non-refundable.
  • The category of candidates has no effect on the fee amount.

SET 2019 Admit Card will be available on SET website from April 21 until May 5, 2019.

Follow the steps given below to download Symbiosis SET Hall Ticket:

  • Visit the official link.
  • Click on “Symbiosis SET 2019 Admit Card Release”
  • Enter your Symbiosis SET ID and DOB/ Password.
  • View and save the admit card.
  • Take a printout of the hall ticket and preserve it carefully.

Selection Process

Selection of the candidate is done purely on the basis of cutoff decided by the university after the announcement of the SET (General) exam result. The primary selection criteria for the next rounds is the score achieved by a candidate in the SET (General) entrance exam.

SET result will be announced on the official website. The candidates are advised to check individual websites.Students shortlisted on the basis of SET (General) will be invited for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

The candidate must carry all the relevant documents (original and photocopy) to the WAT/PI round. Final selection is done on the basis of cumulative performance of a candidate in both the phases.

Results and Cut-Offs

SET 2019 results for all General courses are expected to be announced in the month of May. Although the date of result declaration has not been announced yet, but it is expected that the results will be announced in May.

The candidates can check their scorecards and download their scorecards from the official website.

To download scorecards, follow the steps given below:

  • Open the official website link in a new browser.
  • Click on Download Scorecard tab.
  • Enter login credentials.
  • Check scorecard.
  • Download a copy of the same.

Each scorecard will contain the candidate’s name, roll number, sectional score and overall score of SET 2019.

A merit list will also be released containing names of selected candidates, their total marks and ranks. Admission will be offered to candidates on the basis of marks scored in SET 2019 and performance in WAT/PI round.

The scorecard will be available for download on the official website for one month from the date of declaration of results. The candidates are advised to download their scorecards within the given duration as the institute will not entertain any request for scorecard after that.

Post declaration of results, candidates will be invited to participate in WAT/PI round by the institutes they had selected while filling the application form. The call will be made on the basis of candidates’ scores viz the minimum cut-off set by a particular institute.

Note: There is no provision of revaluation or rechecking of the paper.

The cutoffs will be released post the declaration of SET 2019 result. These cutoffs will be available on the official website. Shortlisted candidates list will also be released for further selection process.

The candidates will have to apply for admission according to the cut-offs. They will be then called for WAT/PI round by the institutes. If their marks is less than the minimum cut-off they must not apply as their application will be rejected.

The candidates will be informed about their selection for admission through an offer letter sent as an email. On receipt of the offer letter, the candidate will be required to confirm joining the programme by making a payment of administrative fee and one instalment of academic annual fee within the stipulated time mention in the offer letter.
