St Xavier’s College, Mumbai offers admission to the three-year degree courses (Bachelor in Mass Media) BMM and (Bachelor in Management Studies) BMS, on the basis of this common entrance exam popularly known as Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test. It is a pen-paper based exam.

Exam Pattern

There is one question paper each for BMM and BMS in the Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test. The duration of the exam is 1 hour 45 minutes.

The question papers consists of two sections

  • Objective Type Questions - 70 marks
  • Subjective Type Questions - 30 marks
  • The question paper will be of a total of 100 marks, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. Answers can be marked only with a Black ball-point pen.

Eligibility?

Academic Criteria:

  • The candidates with either of the Academic Qualifications are eligible for the exam:
  • Applicants should have completed their Class XII or equivalent examination from any board, national or state, or equivalent qualifying test.
  • Candidates who have appeared or passed Intermediate (10+2) or Two-year pre-university examination conducted by a recognised Board or University. also eligible.
  • Aspirants having High School Certificate exam of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Applicants who have appeared for Senior Secondary School exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum 5 subjects.
  • Those with a diploma in any Engineering branch with 2, 3 or 4 years duration after passing the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) exam conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or equivalent examination.

The Category-wise Minimum Aggregate Marks Required in Qualifying Exams are:

Age Criteria:

  • For General category, only candidates whose Date of Birth (DOB) falls on or after June 1, 1996, are eligible to apply for the exam.
  • For Catholic community and SC/ST Category candidates, the DOB must fall on or after June 1, 1994.

Note: DOB mentioned in the school leaving certificate, first board or pre-university certificate/Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority will be acceptable. In case candidates belong to a minority category, the Baptism Certificate will be required.

Note: Candidates belonging to NC-OBC, SC, ST and PWD(DA) need to submit valid and attested certificates in support of their reservation category.

Filling the Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test Application Form:

  • Log on to the official website and fill up the application form.
  • Enter details in every mandatory field as incomplete application will be rejected.
  • After filling up the form, the candidate will be required to pay the application fee. .
  • Once the payment is received the candidate will receive confirmation through email. .

Note:Candidates must keep in mind that the application form should be filled correctly and completely. Forms having incomplete/ incorrect details will be rejected by the officials.

Admit Card
  • Admit cards of Xavier’s BMS Entrance Test will be issued to the candidate as soon as the application form is submitted. The candidate will be required to download it and take a print out of the same. For the admit card, follow the given steps:
  • COnce you receive a confirmation regarding submission of application form, check the email for admit card link.
  • Click on the link and download the admit card.
  • Take a printout of the admit card.
  • Affix a recent passport size photograph on the admit card and get it attested by the school/college Principal or a Gazetted Officer.

Note: The admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the examination hall. Any candidate found without the same will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

The candidates are required to carry the following documents to the exam centre:

  • Admit Card
  • One attested copy of Class XII Marksheet
  • One attested copy of Baptism Certificate (if applicable)
  • One attested copy of Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • One copy of the documentary proof supporting the category:
    • Children of Transferred Central/State Government Employees Officers

Results and Cut-Offs

The results of the exam are generally declared within a month from the date of examination. Candidates can view their scorecards on the official website of St Xavier’s College. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be prepared and shortlisted candidates will be called for the next round which is the interview-cum-written test round. While preparing the merit list, 60% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in the entrance test and 40% weightage will be given to the qualifying XII examination.

  • Visit the official website.
  • Click on the ‘Results’ tab.
  • Enter application number and submit.
  • The merit list will appear on the screen.
  • Take a printout of the same.

Once the interview-cum-written test round is over, a final merit list shall be prepared. For the same, 70% weightage will be given to the score obtained in the interview-cum-written test and 30% weightage will be given to the score obtained in the entrance test.
